Chef Rodney Baca is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico with family roots from Spain. He brings experience from some of the best restaurants in the world such as Ritz Carlton-Marina Del Rey, St. Thomas-Virgin Islands, Barcelona-Spain, Atlanta-Georgia, Le Meridian Beverly Hills, Le Meridian Nice France. He has also trained under some of the BEST Chef’s in the world, Chef Gerrard Ferri and Chef George Mahaffey. 2004, Chef Rodney Baca became the Executive Chef of the Paul Masson Mountain Winery. During his period of Leadership it was voted #1 outdoor venue in the South Bay Area. Also in 2004, He was rated top “up and coming” Chef in the nation by two independent polls. 2005, He consulted for Park Boscolo Hotel in Italy (Rome, Florence) then followed up by consulting with restaurants in Paris, France. He finally ended his European leg consulting in Barcelona, Spain. 2006, Executive Chef Rodney Baca opened his first restaurant in Santa Monica, CA. It was credited a top new restaurant by Zagat! MALIA Restaurant & Lounge was an eclectic mixture of his invigorating European, Asian & Latin influences which you can experience in his cooking today. 2007- 2009, Chef Baca consulted for Breezy’s Bistro, Forno Diablo & Stanford University. 2010- 2015, Chef Baca successfully delighted Shark Fans with his cuisine at the San Jose Sharks Grill Restaurant. This is where Chef Baca met his wife Madelyn. During this time he started working on his project creating his own Boutique line of Sauces & Salsas “Baca Sauces” and expanding his catering business “Baca Catering.” In 2019 Chef Baca and his wife Madelyn created "The Shop by Chef Baca" which has a store front at their catering kitchen located on the VTA Campus in San Jose. THE SHOP is also located in Levi Stadium where you can dig into Chef Baca's sought after PASTRAMI Sandwich. The Baca's have also expanded their catering business which provides gourmet flight services for NHL, NFL & MBA Teams, Backstage Catering and Cafe Services. |
